Ingenii Swirls

Lunar swirls are among the most beautiful and bizarre features on the Moon. These bright, sinuous patterns seem to be painted across the flat mare terrain, and up and over the 800 m tall Thomson peaks. Some scientists believe that swirls may be the result local magnetic fields protecting the surface from radiation-induced weathering of the lunar soil.
