Network of Small Troughs

A series of small, narrow troughs (upper left) - so small they could only be found in the high resolution LROC images - are tectonic features formed by forces that stretching and breaking near surface crustal materials. The broken crust drops down along two bounding faults creating a trough or graben. Chains of circular pits are found in some of the graben. Because small landforms on the Moon will not survive long because of constant bombardment of meteoroids, these graben are very young; they must be younger than 10 million years.
