Luna 24 landed on the northwestern rim of a 64 m diameter impact crater, on the volcanic plains of Mare Crisium. Enlargement of lander at lower left, NAC M174868307L [NASA/GSFC/Arizona State University].

Lunokhod 1 rover in its final parking place (38.315°N, 324.992°E) on the surface of Mare Imbrium. The inset in the lower left shows an expanded view of the rover. LROC NAC image M175502049RE. [NASA/GSFC/Arizona State University].

Erosional trough (400 m long x 100-200 m wide) on the eastern inner wall of the farside crater Moore F. Morphologically it resembles a martian sapping feature, suggested to form due to erosion by water flowing out of the subsurface. LROC NAC image M128075293R, image width is 500 m, Sun is coming from the lower right. [NASA/GSFC/Arizona State University].

Luna 21 lander delivered the Lunokhod 2 rover to the floor of Le Monnier crater in January 1973, LROC NAC Image M122007650LE [NASA/GSFC/ Arizona State University].

A northeast-trending wrinkle ridge cuts across the plains of Mare Imbrium. The overall ridge is about 4.5 km wide. The contact between the ridge (right) and the surrounding mare basalt plains (left) runs diagonally up the image (NASA/GSFC/Arizona State University).

Debris flow extending down the southwest wall of Janssen K crater (a highlands crater about 16 km in diameter). Image width is 570 meters (NASA/GSFC/Arizona State University).

Frozen impact melt flows on the floor of Moore F, a farside highlands crater. Image width 600 m, 0.61 m/pixel, NAC image M110383422LE [NASA/GSFC/Arizona State University].

Same crater from two LROC NAC frames under very different lighting. On the left the Sun was midway to the horizon and on the right the Sun was high, approaching noon. Under lower Sun, surface roughness is quite evident; under higher sun (right) variations in brightness (reflectance) dominate the scene [NASA/GSFC/Arizona State University].
