Empty Pad Beckons

LRO's empty launch pad beckons [Photo Mark Robinson].

The Space Shuttle (STS-127) launch delay has pushed back the LRO launch to later this week, perhaps Thursday or more likely Friday. Meanwhile LRO is patiently waiting in the Vertical Integration Facility (VIF, background). Twenty four hours before launch the LRO Atlas V 401 rocket will slowly rollout to Pad 41 from the VIF and will be centered between the four lightning towers (foreground) in preparation for its trip to the Moon.
