First Images

It was one year ago, 30 June 2009, when LROC was powered up and sent back its first images from the Moon.

On 30 June 2009 LROC was powered up for two orbits to acquire some test images. These first images were sequenced to provide important engineering data, but of course the key point was to confirm that the camera did indeed survive launch. As we know the answer was a resounding yes!
