LRO is now in commissioning orbit!

The LRO OPS Team successfully commanded a 231 second burn this morning that placed LRO into its 30 km x 199 km (19 mile x 124 mile) commissioning phase orbit.

Another great job executing a precision burn by the LRO OPS Team! The periapsis (low point)  of our commissioning phase orbit is centered over the South Pole, and the apoapsis (high point) is over the North Pole. Next week the spacecraft will complete its commissioning tasks (gimbaling antenna, gimbaling solar panels, etc) and LROC and the other instruments will begin their commissioning activities.
