Age-dated Nearside Mare Basalt Units by Hiesinger et al. (2000-2011) Polygons representing the mare basalt units defined in age estimate works by Hiesinger et al. (2000, 2002, 2003, 2010). Each polygon includes the unit name and crater size-frequency distributions model age. See Hiesinger et al. (2011) for details of the methodology and the summary of age dating efforts. For the regions used for crater counting, refer to the Hiesinger2011_Mare_Crater_Count_Areas shapefile. Unit names consist of letters with numbers (e.g., P60). The letter indicates the mare name and the number indicates the unit ID within each mare. Smaller ID numbers reflect relatively old units and larger numbers indicates relatively younger units.
