Sean Merritt, BA Philosophy, ASU
Sean has always had an interest in space, but in a much different context than now. He liked space because it made him wonder, it inspired him to ask questions about its meaning as well as our own. When he made it to junior college, he took a geology course on a whim. He ended up enjoying it and eventually became a lab assistant and a geology tutor. He spent most of my time cataloging brachiopods and setting up labs. In time, he learned that there was a Planetary Geology program at ASU. When he received his Associates of Science from Yavapai College he came here to ASU. He began work at the Space Photography Laboratory (SPL) and took his first semester of geology. He ended up taking a basic logic class that same semester. He fell in love with it and switched his major to philosophy, but continued to work at SPL and finished his B.A. in Philosophy. Eventually, he found his way to LROC. He took to computers fairly quickly at LROC and found the work preferable.
