Zack Bowles

Zack Bowles is part of the Science Operations Team on the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC). He has earned his B.S. in Geology with Minors of Math and Physics from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi and his M.S. in Geology from Arizona State University under the advisement of Ron Greeley. Ron instilled a passion for Planetary Geology and particularly Planetary Volcanology with the hope of applying these interests to active planetary mission operations. Zack's Master's Thesis topic was "Reconnaissance Geologic History of the Batamote Mountains, Ajo, AZ," in which he mapped an 18 million year old shield volcano to determine its volcanic history and place it into a regional context. Zack will utilize expertise from planning and conducting remote observations and field excursions to planning Narrow and Wide Angle Camera observations with the LROC.

Outside of work, Zack is mostly a beach bum and traveler, enjoying places with dark skies, high mountain tops, warm sand, and the necessity of a 4WD vehicle to visit.
